VASCO 3.2: Revolutionising Navigation Training with Enhanced Realism and Functionality

Last month we announced the release of VASCO 3.2, our latest iteration of this world leading virtual bridge simulation platform.

Designed based on input from maritime professionals who utilize VASCO regularly, this version introduces advanced features that elevate navigation training, enhance situational awareness, and further immerses users in operational realism like never before.

Here is a closer look at what’s new in VASCO 3.2:

1. Enhanced Planner Tool Views

Users can now view the Planner and Bridge simultaneously, enabling a seamless experience in planning and monitoring navigation, whilst also providing further control of the environment to include; Day, Dusk and Night Modes, alongside the ability to apply Wind and Tide settings.

2. 3D Soundscapes

Immersiving the Seafarer in an environment that is not only visually representative of the Bridge Environment, but also by incorporating appropriate soundscapes that includes VHF Broadcasts, Intakes, Exhausts, Air Conditioning, Communications chatter generates a significant level of immersion.  This is now all possible within VASCO.

3. Improved CPA/TCPA Availability

The Planner Tool now offers expanded ARPA and AIS target information, providing richer situational awareness to help trainees make informed decisions in multi-ship scenarios.

4. Multi-Target Acquisition on Radar

With multi-target acquisition available on Radar, users can track multiple targets effortlessly. Targets are retained across both ECDIS and Radar displays, ensuring consistency and clarity.

5. Realistic Navigational Lights

Sectored lighting within our Harbour environments further advances the sense relevance within our pilotage scenarios.

6. VHF Communications Capability

Bridge and Planner communication now includes VHF capabilities, streamlining operational coordination and enhancing realism.

7. Expanded Port Integrations

Explore new environments with the addition of ports in UAE, San Diego, and Norfolk, broadening the scope of training scenarios.

8. Vessel Type Selection at Sign-In

Customize your training experience by selecting between Superyacht and Expeditionary Vessel profiles when logging in.

9. Autopilot Integration

Single person watchkeeping scenarios are now possible with the integration of autopilot, delivering practical, real-world training scenarios that can be aligned with how you wish to operate at sea.

10. Eye Tracking for Situational Awareness

Our new eye-tracking feature offers empirical data on user focus, providing valuable insights to improve training feedback and enhance attention guidance.

11. Advanced Collision Detection

Enhanced collision detection increases the realism of ship-handling scenarios, improving the learning experience.
